Application for the Master Electrical Engineering and Information Technology

Thank you for your interest in the Master's degree program in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at our KIT department! As of the winter semester 2025/26 admission to the program is restricted. Applicants who meet the admission requirements are assigned a ranking place based on their course content and their overall grade in the Bachelor's degree. The degree program is taught in English. Proof of English language skills must therefore be provided.

Admission requirements*
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology or related degree program
  • Required minimum knowledge in the following areas:
    • Higher mathematics (14 ECTS credit points)
    • Fundamentals of electrical engineering (19 ECTS credit points)
    • Digital technology, information technology and systems engineering (17 ECTS credit points)
  • Aptitude for the program
  • English language skills.
In addition to the language certificates listed in the KIT admission and enrollment regulations, alternative certificates may also be accepted in individual cases, in particular:
    • a degree certificate from an English-language degree program.
    • a university entrance qualification from institutions with English as the language of instruction.
    • a Bachelor's thesis written in English.

In a first step the admission requirements are checked on the basis of the uploaded documents. A transcript and a module handbook or similar containing the content and workload for each area (i.e. credit points/credits) are required to check the minimum knowledge.

Points are awarded to determine subject-specific aptitude. Applicants who meet the minimum knowledge requirements can earn additional points with an excellent grade. Depending on the number of points, applicants are either placed directly in the ranking list, rejected or invited to an online application interview to determine their subject-specific aptitude. Applicants who successfully complete the interview are included in the ranking list. The points obtained in the interview are also taken into account.

The interviews for the winter semester 2025/26 will take place from August 4 to August 15, 2025.
